Live in Baltimore? Visiting soon? Be sure to check out Birroteca, a modern take on delicious Italian cuisine. Not only is the food fantastic, but the atmosphere is spot-on for a laid-back meal in its quaint Hampden locale. I’ll be heading back soon to dabble in some brussel sprouts and get my fix of the olive oil and sea salt ice cream—sound weird? You won’t be disappointed, I promise.

Cheers!

Food Type: Bluegrass Tavern

Image

Located in charming Federal Hill, Bluegrass Tavern is a home away from home for southern folk with a sophisticated palette. From their classic, airy atmosphere to the whiskey and wine selection, there is nothing to rival the uniqueness of this Baltimore gem.

Stop by in the warmer months and enjoy a weekend brunch at one of their outdoor patio tables, or enjoy a romantic dinner in their intimate dining room. No matter what the occasion, you won’t be disappointed!

Cheers,
J.

Food Type: Little Havana

Food Type

Today’s Food Type comes from what I like to think is a well-kept Baltimore secret. Pop in for some tacos, a mojito (their specialty) or simply to enjoy the warm breezes on the patio. I also happen to love the restored warehouse in which the cabana resides, representing the urban Baltimore vibe alongside the beachy Latin flair. Enjoy!

Cheers,
J.

Food Type: Ryleigh’s Oyster

Wine glass

This whole “starting your own design business” deal is, as I expected, tough work. You begin to realize that the business side is just as important as the design side and finding that balance between corporate and creative can be taxing. So lately I’ve been scrubbing my brain for ways to keep my skills sharp in the spare moments that I do happen to find.

Ryleigh's Infographic

Behold, my first attempt at a typographic restaurant review. I love food, I love type, so why the heck not? This particular infographic reflects some of my all-time fave things about one of Fed Hill’s finest, Ryleigh’s Oyster. But don’t just take my word(s) for it, stop by and check them out next time you find yourself around Charm City! You’ll be sure to see me there in the upcoming months when their open-air atmosphere blows back into style in the arms of those warm summer breezes.

Cheers,
J.
